Environmental and Ecological Engineering is established by Ministry of Education in 2012. Chongqing University started the enrollment of undergraduate students majored in Environmental and Ecological Engineering since 2013. In 2019, it was listed in provincial First-class undergraduate Program and in 2020, it was also listed in National First-class undergraduate Program (the first and the only one in national key university administrated by Ministry of Education of China). Environmental and Ecological Engineering is a 4-year full-time BSc program and it is ranked Top 2 in China in this discipline. This program had its first cohort of students graduated in 2017, and now it sees 20-30 students graduating per year.  

The program of Environmental and Ecological Engineering aims to train students with attic faith, enthusiasm for sustainable development and professional skills of environmental and ecological engineering. Students in this program are required to have solid fundamental knowledge and to master basic skills of Environmental and Ecological Engineering, and establish innovative scientific thinking and hands-on abilities. At the same time, students are encouraged to participate in multi-level and multi-discipline scientific research and social practices. After graduation, students should have a strong and professional ability to engage in both academic research and practical applications.
