The Department of Environmental Engineering was founded in 1985, and it was one of the first group of higher education institutes that provided the BSc program in Environmental Engineering. The first class of students was enrolled in 1985 and graduated in 1989, and now there are around 80 students graduated each year. After nearly forty-year’s development, the department now has 37 well qualified academic staff with high educational background required (PhD, international education experience, etc.) and professional certificates. They dedicate to provide students with module combination choices for different career paths in environmental engineering, including water pollution control engineering, solid waste treatment and disposal, air pollution control engineering, etc. They integrate the concept of “green, low carbon, sustainability and work ethics” into modules, emphasizing the cooperation with other disciplines in project design modules, in order to focus on the needs of students and industry for careers, and help the students to develop competence for career. Staffs are in five teaching groups leading by senior staffs who are famous experts in both academia and industry, engaging in teaching improving research projects with a few textbooks published as recommended ones by the national education authorities. |
